The Fermo Corni Prize awarded to Franco Stefani

The 14th edition of the “Premio Fermo Corni” (Fermo Corni Prize), organized by the “Amici del Corni” (Friends of Corni) association took place on Saturday 25 November in the “Corni” Senior High School Auditorium in via Leonardo da Vinci 300 as part of the Settimane della Scienza e della Tecnica (Science and Technology Week).
This year the Scientific Committee has decided to award the Prize to Engineer Franco Stefani, founder and chairman of the System Group (Fiorano Modenese), world leader in industrial automation and in process solutions which are unique in the world for the ceramics, electronics, intra-logistics and packaging sectors. Franco Stefani stands out for his strong attachment to the sciences, his capacity to create innovative and original products and processes and his ability to achieve a leading position in the world market.
With more than 300 patents, 2,300 employees, 40 branches in the world and a turnover of 530 million, the System Group is a symbol of Made in Italy excellence, and through its technologies acts as a flag-bearer to the world of that “know-how” which is particular to Modena.
After the award ceremony, Engineer Stefani gave a guest lecture in the presence of the school, civil and military authorities, of representatives of the economic and business world and to a number of classes of the “Corni” Senior High School.
The Mayor, Gian Carlo Muzzarelli, on behalf of the city, presented an award to Engineer Franco Stefani who is also very attentive to the younger generation, working closely with schools in the School-Work alternation system and who donated a robotized station to the “Corni” Senior High School a number of years ago.
During the same event, prizes were awarded to students of the “Corni” Senior High School who performed particularly well in the final State Examinations, achieving maximum marks.
